Meet Eric J. Cohen,
D.C., P.A. (and proud of it)
Who we are
Welcome, and thank you for
taking the time to get to know us. We at Active Family Wellness Center know how
busy you are, because just like you we juggle work and family, trips to the
grocery store, pet store, dry cleaners, after school activities, auto repair
shop? and we realize that when your life is busy that sometimes not everything
gets done. All too often what does not get done is taking
care of our self.
Let us ask you this, if
you don't take care of yourself, than how can you enjoy all that life has to
offer? The simple answer is you can't. So take a moment to sit back, relax
and see how Dr. Cohen, and the dedicated staff at Active
Family Wellness
Center, may help you add years to your life, and life to your years.
A
brief history
If you had asked a 15 year
old Ricky Cohen back in Philly what he was going to be when he grew up, he would
have said a musician. As a matter of fact, Dr. Cohen still plays in a local
band. But like most musicians, he found that he needed a way to pay the bills
but being a doctor was one of the last things on his mind. Instead he turned to
his second love after music and became a professional photographer. By his early
30's Eric Cohen had dropped his childhood nickname of Ricky, was married with a
small child and running a successful photography business in Coral Gables,
Florida with his late wife Donna. He concurrently studied reflexology and
nutrition along with various spiritual endeavors.
Donna's dramatic story changes many lives
During a family outing,
Donna's mother retold the story about how Chiropractic care had changed Donna's
life. Donna Cohen was born with almost no vision that required numerous
surgeries. By the age of three her mother was told to prepare the family home
for life with a blind child. Donna was registered in a school for the blind but
before she began classes her mother decided to try one last thing. Against the
families wishes, Donna and her mother drove 200 miles round trip, two times a
week to see a Chiropractor. Within a few months Donna's vision was restored to
20/20 with glasses. Likely had it not been for the surgeries, it would have
been 20/20 without the glasses.
The effects of what
Chiropractic care can do was so impressive, Donna's step-father, a bartender and
high school drop out, was inspired to get his high school diploma and go onto
Palmer College of Chiropractic where he graduated in 1962.
He, in turn, encouraged
Eric, now his son-in-law, to go to chiropractic school as well. So at 33, with
a wife and a two year old child, the family moved to
Davenport, Iowa so he could
begin his studies at Palmer College of Chiropractic. By the time Doctor Cohen
graduated Palmer College of Chiropractic, he was the father of two sons, and one
day shy of his 38th birthday.
and
inspires a family tradition
In March of 2010, that 2 year old child, now 30 years old, married with a child of his own, graduated from Palmer College in Port Orange, Florida. He became the
third generation of Chiropractors in the Cohen
family.
So why do we tell you this?
Because we know that
choosing a doctor is a very personal thing. When you choose a doctor you are
trusting them with your most valuable asset, your health. It's important that
you know the person to whom you are placing this trust.
Chiropractic is not what we are. it is who we are
For Doctor Cohen, and his
staff, Chiropractic is not only what we do, but it is how we live. So when we
recommend that you take nutritional supplements, or go on an exercise program,
there is a good chance that someone in our office is either taking the same
supplements, or following the same program.
